Greetings to the Jazz Fraternity
We like to think that we only have the best and most entertaining Bands and Musicians booked to appear on the Dove Podium to furnish you goodly jazz fayre whilst always trying to remain within our obvious budgetary restraints. In addition we also believe that we offer a real value for money ticket price that enables enjoyable jazz music to be played in a comfortable, warm and cosy environment in the company of like-minded people. We have always tried to promote the music along with its history as well trying to further Dove Jazz Club and keep it on a sound footing for over 30 years now. There have been times when our journey has been a difficult one along a route that is filled with pot holes but we have always managed to keep our hand on the steering wheel and emerge on to smoother roads eventually. Throughout our 30 year plus travels we have been fortunate to have a nucleus of faithful followers whose loyal support we can always count upon!
The weather all over the Country has not been of the highest order I suppose since the end of September 2023. This statistic being yet another factor in addition to 'poverty and advancing years' that has not encouraged Jazz Supporters to leave their cosy firesides to be out and about to visit and support those live Jazz Venues presenting music of a more Traditional Nature. Several of these Clubs are seriously in need of the revenue to enable them to keep their doors open to be able to welcome audiences and performers alike. We are missing several renowned Jazz Festivals and Venues that have sadly disappeared over the horizon in recent years. Whilst there are various reasons for these closures I would suspect that many are due to matters of a financial nature. If you could persuade the odd friend, neighbour, family member or even mistress to accompany you on a journey of adventure to the 'Centre of the Universe' or any other establishment for that matter presenting live music it would be very much appreciated to say the least not to mention greatly helping the cause of Traditional Jazz Music in general.
We are certain that there is a great deal to look forward to with our offerings in the second sector of the year at the Club and of course at other Jazz establishments as well. So please do try and grab your good self a bit of the action. It will be no use crying over spilt milk when there is no Joyful Jazz Music to listen to live and derive pleasure from in our green and pleasant land. Or as the old adage goes 'Use it or lose it,' the outcome is in your hands. Please do your best to keep our music alive and in reasonable health!
Best wishes as ever
Roger
